Manel Esteller, que obtuvo el Premio Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n en 2015, es profesor del Departamento de Ciencias Fisiol\u00f3gicas de la Universidad de Barcelona. Director del Programa de Epigen\u00e9tica y Biolog\u00eda del C\u00e1ncer del Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL)<\/a>, es un experto de prestigio internacional en el estudio de la metilaci\u00f3n (modificaci\u00f3n bioqu\u00edmica del ADN) como mecanismo que altera los genes supresores de tumores humanos, y centra su investigaci\u00f3n en el estudio de las modificaciones epigen\u00e9ticas y el desarrollo de nuevos medicamentos epigen\u00e9ticos para tratar el c\u00e1ncer. Esteller tambi\u00e9n ha sido distinguido con el Premio Rey Jaime I de investigaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica (2013), el XX Premio Severo Ochoa de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica (2013), el Premio Vanguardia de la Ciencia (2014) o la Medalla Josep Trueta al m\u00e9rito sanitario (2015), entre otros reconocimientos.
El doctor Joan Massagu\u00e9 es cofundador del Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica (IRB Barcelona),<\/a> un centro participado por la UB, y dirige el Programa de Biolog\u00eda y Gen\u00e9tica del C\u00e1ncer del Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer (MSKCC) Center de Nueva York. Massagu\u00e9, que recibi\u00f3 el Premio Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n 2014 en el \u00e1rea de biolog\u00eda, es licenciado en Farmacia y doctor en Bioqu\u00edmica por la Universidad de Barcelona, y se traslad\u00f3 a los Estados Unidos en 1982. Experto de proyecci\u00f3n internacional en el estudio de la met\u00e1stasis, desde noviembre de 2013 dirige el Instituto Sloan-Kettering de Nueva York, la rama cient\u00edfica del MSKCC, uno de los principales centros mundiales de investigaci\u00f3n del c\u00e1ncer.
A su vez, Josep Baselga es director m\u00e9dico del Hospital Memorial Sloan Kettering<\/a> de Nueva York, centro l\u00edder en la lucha contra el c\u00e1ncer, y preside la Asociaci\u00f3n Americana de Investigaci\u00f3n del C\u00e1ncer (AACR), una organizaci\u00f3n que representa a 34.000 profesionales e investigadores. Baselga, todo un referente internacional en el estudio del c\u00e1ncer de mama, tambi\u00e9n fue director del Vall d’Hebron Instituto de Oncolog\u00eda (VHIO) de Barcelona.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
