Trabaj\u00f3 como investigador postdoctoral en el California Institute of Biological Research de La Jolla (California, EEUU) y en el Hospital de Sant Pau. Tambi\u00e9n ha sido profesor visitante en la Universidad de Michigan. En el \u00e1mbito asistencial, ha ejercido como cirujano en el Hospital de Sant Jaume de Calella. Su investigaci\u00f3n se orienta al diagn\u00f3stico molecular del c\u00e1ncer, tanto hereditario como espor\u00e1dico, especialmente en c\u00e1ncer colorrectal. <br \/> <b><br \/>A nivel de gesti\u00f3n, Capell\u00e1 encabez\u00f3 la Direcci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica del IDIBELL en el periodo 2008-2012 y desde 2013 ha sido responsable de Investigaci\u00f3n e Innovaci\u00f3n en Salud del Departamento de Salud de la Generalitat de Catalu\u00f1a, tarea que ha compaginado con la de jefe del Programa de C\u00e1ncer Hereditario del ICO y jefe de grupo de C\u00e1ncer Hereditario del IDIBELL.
