El grupo de la dra. Conxi L\u00e1zaro, investigadora principal del grupo de investigaci\u00f3n en c\u00e1ncer hereditario del programa Oncobell (IDIBELL) y jefe de la Unidad de diagn\u00f3stico molecular del programa de C\u00e1ncer Hereditario (ICO), ha sido galardonado con una de las cinco becas de investigaci\u00f3n precl\u00ednicas que la entidad NF Research Initiative, vinculada al Boston Children Hospital, otorga anualmente. Este programa de becas busca ampliar el conocimiento existente a nivel biol\u00f3gico con respecto a la progresi\u00f3n de tumores malignos de la vaina nerviosa (MPNST) para hacer avanzar el desarrollo de terapias contra estas patolog\u00edas.

“Las terapias espec\u00edficas \u00fanicas no han demostrado eficacia en el tratamiento de MPNST”, explica la Dra. L\u00e1zaro. “Ante esta situaci\u00f3n, nuestro grupo de investigaci\u00f3n ya ha realizado un cribado de f\u00e1rmacos de alto rendimiento en dos l\u00edneas celulares de MPNST, identificando medicamentos potentes y eficaces que tambi\u00e9n hemos probado, en algunos casos, en pares para encontrar aquellas combinaciones que muestren mejor sinergia”, a\u00f1ade L\u00e1zaro.
Ahora, con la financiaci\u00f3n recibida, los investigadores IDIBELL-ICO proponen validar estas combinaciones empleando una plataforma terap\u00e9utica para la medicina de precisi\u00f3n in vitro <\/em>\/ in vivo<\/em> ya desarrollada que consta de tres componentes: l\u00edneas celulares MPNST, modelos de rat\u00f3n MPNST ortoxenograft (PDX) y un repositorio de datos gen\u00f3micos de todos los modelos in vitro <\/em>e in vivo<\/em>.
“Con toda esta informaci\u00f3n, podremos establecer modelos de predicci\u00f3n de respuesta a f\u00e1rmacos, tanto como agentes individuales como en combinaci\u00f3n, comparar y evaluar de tratamiento en l\u00edneas celulares y modelos in vivo <\/em>provenientes de un mismo paciente, y estudiar la efecto de la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n estromal en los tratamientos y la efectividad de las combinaciones terap\u00e9uticas sobre met\u00e1stasis”, concluye la Dra.
