A trav\u00e9s de un estudio bioinform\u00e1tico de gran cantidad de datos, investigadores del IDIBELL -ICO (ProCURE, programa Oncobell) han contribuido a descifrar las caracter\u00edsticas metab\u00f3licas de diferentes tipos de c\u00e1ncer. Adem\u00e1s, este estudio ha identificado multitud de nuevas vulnerabilidades que abren puertas a tratamientos m\u00e1s precisos del c\u00e1ncer. La investigaci\u00f3n, publicada en la revista Cancer Research, ha sido posible gracias a la colaboraci\u00f3n establecida con el grupo del profesor Joaqu\u00edn Dopazo de la “Fundaci\u00f3n Andaluza Progreso y Salud” y el “Instituto Nacional de Bioinform\u00e1tica (INB)”.<\/p>\n

“El metabolismo celular se encuentra reorganizado o reprogramado en el c\u00e1ncer; esta caracter\u00edstica contribuye de forma decisiva a la progresi\u00f3n de la enfermedad y formaci\u00f3n de met\u00e1stasis”, explica el Dr. Miquel \u00c1ngel Pujana, investigador IDIBELL-ICO. “Sin embargo se desconoce el perfil metab\u00f3lico de muchos tipos de tumores”, a\u00f1ade.<\/p>\n

El equipo de investigadores parti\u00f3 de 9.428 muestras correspondientes a 25 tipos de c\u00e1nceres con el fin de elucidar las caracter\u00edsticas metab\u00f3licas de cada uno de ellos. “Esta informaci\u00f3n, combinada con datos de expresi\u00f3n g\u00e9nica, se convierte en un valioso compendio de perfiles metab\u00f3licos en c\u00e1ncer y nos permite establecer relaciones entre ellos y respecto al pron\u00f3stico de la enfermedad”, a\u00f1ade el Dr. Pujana.<\/p>\n

En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, el metabolismo del c\u00e1ncer se ha convertido en un \u00e1rea de mucho inter\u00e9s por el desarrollo de nuevas y precisas estrategias terap\u00e9uticas. “En nuestro estudio, proponemos inhibir diferentes dianas metab\u00f3licas como nueva estrategia terap\u00e9utica para evitar la progresi\u00f3n de la enfermedad”, comenta el investigador Oncobell.
