Investigadores del Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL) y del Instituto Catal\u00e1n de Oncolog\u00eda (programa ProCURE), liderados por el Dr. David G. Mollev\u00ed con la Dra. Natalia Guill\u00e9n D\u00edaz-Maroto como primera autora, publican en Clinical Cancer Research, las bases para nuevas terapias contra el c\u00e1ncer colorrectal. El estudio est\u00e1 integrado dentro del programa de investigaci\u00f3n Oncobell, el programa del IDIBELL destinado a la investigaci\u00f3n de terapias experimentales y mecanismos moleculares en c\u00e1ncer.<\/p>\n

\u201cHemos descubierto que, si inactivamos dos prote\u00ednas, llamadas TAK1 y TGFBR1, que participan en la se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n celular del tejido normal asociado a los tumores, las c\u00e9lulas tumorales son m\u00e1s sensibles a la quimioterapia y se reduce la capacidad de met\u00e1stasis de los tumores\u201d, comentar el Dr. Mollev\u00ed.<\/p>\n

En un tumor desarrollado encontramos distintos tipos celulares. Por un lado, las propiamente cancerosas y, por otro lado, hay c\u00e9lulas tumorales, llamadas gen\u00e9ricamente estroma. Entre ellas, las m\u00e1s numerosas son los fibroblastos, que proporcionan sustento a modo de andamio. Estos fibroblastos a trav\u00e9s de estas dos prote\u00ednas (TAK1 y TGFBR1) proporcionan mol\u00e9culas y factores que nutren a las c\u00e9lulas tumorales y facilitan que estas sean invisibles a los tratamientos de quimioterapia.<\/p>\n

Una de las muchas l\u00edneas de estudio que existen para combatir el c\u00e1ncer es influir en la interacci\u00f3n entre estroma y tumor, para hacer que este sea m\u00e1s vulnerable ya que se interfiere en su desarrollo. De esta manera, los tumores se pueden tratar con quimioterapia con menos posibilidad de que reaparezcan.<\/p>\n

\u201cEste nuevo descubrimiento aporta razones para crear nuevas terapias contra c\u00e1nceres colorrectales especialmente en el subgrupo de tumores m\u00e1s abundante en fibroblastos\u201d a\u00f1ade Mollev\u00ed.<\/p>\n
