El grupo de investigaci\u00f3n de ciclo celular del Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica de Bellvitge (IDIBELL)<\/a>, que lidera la Dra. Ethel Queralt, tiene una extensa experiencia en el estudio del complejo de cohesina para una aplicaci\u00f3n concreta en la investigaci\u00f3n de una enfermedad rara, el s\u00edndrome de Cornelia de Lange, adem\u00e1s de llevar a cabo investigaci\u00f3n b\u00e1sica sobre el ciclo celular y la salida mit\u00f3tica. El hecho de que sobre un 10% de los tumores, y principalmente aquellos m\u00e1s agresivos y dif\u00edciles de tratar, presenten mutaciones en una subunidad del complejo de cohesina hace que abrir una l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n acerca de este resulte oportuno. \u00abHaciendo uso de la letalidad sint\u00e9tica de mutaciones entre diferentes subunidades del complejo de cohesina se causa da\u00f1o celular en los tejidos tumorales, mientras se preserva el tejido sano sin ning\u00fan efecto t\u00f3xico\u00bb, apunta la Dra. Queralt.<\/p>\n

A trav\u00e9s del acuerdo con la empresa Pharmacelera<\/a>, el grupo estudiar\u00e1, con t\u00e9cnicas in silico, el uso del complejo de cohesina como diana terap\u00e9utica para c\u00e1nceres de dif\u00edcil tratamiento. Se emplear\u00e1 el software desarrollado por la empresa (PharmScreen\u00ae, entre otros) para confirmar la idoneidad del complejo de cohesina como diana terap\u00e9utica y, en segunda instancia, para realizar campa\u00f1as de selecci\u00f3n en grandes bibliotecas virtuales para buscar nuevas mol\u00e9culas candidatas.<\/p>\n

\u00abAntes de afrontar una aproximaci\u00f3n experimental resulta esencial poder llevar a cabo simulaciones que nos definan el marco de acci\u00f3n\u00bb, comenta Ethel Queralt. \u00abPharmacelera ha desarrollado una tecnolog\u00eda que creemos que se adaptar\u00e1 bien a nuestros objetivos para llevar a cabo el programa de b\u00fasqueda de nuevos f\u00e1rmacos con propiedades anticancer\u00edgenas\u00bb, a\u00f1ade.<\/p>\n

\u00abPharmacelera ha participado en varios proyectos que han cubierto un amplio abanico de aplicaciones terap\u00e9uticas. La colaboraci\u00f3n con el grupo de investigaci\u00f3n en ciclo celular del IDIBELL permitir\u00e1 extender el uso de nuestra tecnolog\u00eda a c\u00e1nceres de dif\u00edcil tratamiento. Hemos desarrollado herramientas como PharmScreen\u00ae, dise\u00f1ado para encontrar y proponer mol\u00e9culas que puedan convertirse en candidatos ante varias dianas, como el complejo de cohesina en el caso presente\u00bb, destaca Enric Gibert, director general de la compa\u00f1\u00eda.<\/p>\n
