Durante el desarrollo del embri\u00f3n, la potencia del cigoto se despliega a trav\u00e9s de cambios coordinados y estereot\u00edpicos en los comportamientos celulares y procesos de dise\u00f1o de tejidos, lo que finalmente resulta en la formaci\u00f3n de un organismo completo y altamente complejo en un per\u00edodo de tiempo relativamente corto. A lo largo de este proceso, la potencia de desarrollo de las c\u00e9lulas individuales, es decir, su capacidad de dar lugar a c\u00e9lulas de un tipo diferente al suyo, se pierde progresivamente, de modo que las c\u00e9lulas som\u00e1ticas en individuos adultos retienen una potencia muy limitada (como en las c\u00e9lulas madre adultas raras ) o no muestran potencia alguna.<\/p>\n
Nuestro laboratorio est\u00e1 interesado en comprender los mecanismos que gobiernan el grado de potencia de las c\u00e9lulas som\u00e1ticas humanas, y c\u00f3mo se puede aumentar experimentalmente para condiciones en las que hacerlo puede tener relevancia biom\u00e9dica. Espec\u00edficamente, el contexto en el que investigamos estos problemas se centra principalmente en el paradigma de la regeneraci\u00f3n\/reparaci\u00f3n card\u00edaca. En general, nuestra investigaci\u00f3n aprovecha una variedad de paradigmas experimentales (regeneraci\u00f3n del coraz\u00f3n del pez cebra, generaci\u00f3n y diferenciaci\u00f3n iPSC humana), abordados desde una perspectiva multidisciplinaria, que abarca desde enfoques de bioingenier\u00eda hasta la diferenciaci\u00f3n de c\u00e9lulas madre 3D hasta an\u00e1lisis de rastreo de linaje gen\u00e9tico de c\u00e9lulas individuales y manipulaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica de c\u00e9lulas humanas, dirigida a abordar importantes problemas actuales en biolog\u00eda y biomedicina, como los mecanismos que controlan el establecimiento y mantenimiento de la potencia del desarrollo, el inicio y la progresi\u00f3n del proceso regenerativo, y la diferenciaci\u00f3n y maduraci\u00f3n funcional de los cardiomiocitos humanos, y el desarrollo de modelos genuinamente humanos de enfermedades humanas.<\/p>\n
