Se form\u00f3 como cirujano general y digestivo. Su inter\u00e9s en la investigaci\u00f3n traslacional del c\u00e1ncer lo llev\u00f3 a una estad\u00eda postdoctoral con el Dr. Manuel Perucho los a\u00f1os 1989 y 1990 en La Jolla, Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n<p>De vuelta a Espa\u00f1a pas\u00f3 8 a\u00f1os en el Laboratorio de Investigaci\u00f3n Gastrointestinal del Hospital de Sant Pau donde centr\u00f3 su investigaci\u00f3n en las bases moleculares del c\u00e1ncer de p\u00e1ncreas y colorrectal. Fue Director del Laboratorio de Investigaci\u00f3n Traslacional del Instituto Catal\u00e1n de Oncolog\u00eda hasta 2011 donde ahora es Director del Programa de C\u00e1ncer Hereditario, tarea que compagina con la de jefe del <a href=\"https:\/\/idibell.cat\/es\/investigacion\/area-de-cancer\/programa-de-mecanismos-moleculares-y-terapia-experimental-en-oncologia-oncobell\/cancer-hereditario\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">grupo de C\u00e1ncer Hereditario<\/a> del IDIBELL. Tambi\u00e9n es coordinador del Programa de Investigaci\u00f3n en Tumores del tracto digestivo del CIBERONC.<\/p>\n<p>Ha sido pionero en la implantaci\u00f3n de unidades de gen\u00e9tica del c\u00e1ncer y pruebas moleculares del c\u00e1ncer hereditario en Espa\u00f1a. Sus proyectos de investigaci\u00f3n se centran en la detecci\u00f3n y caracterizaci\u00f3n cl\u00ednica y molecular del S\u00edndrome de Lynch y Poliposis Adenomatosa Familiar, as\u00ed como en el desarrollo de nuevas tecnolog\u00edas para el an\u00e1lisis gen\u00e9tico.<\/p>\n<p>Es coautor de m\u00e1s de 400 publicaciones en revistas internacionales revisadas por expertos y cofundador de la spin-off VCN Biosciences, destinada al desarrollo de terapias basadas en virus oncol\u00edticos.
