Such\u00a0<strong>novel methodologies<\/strong>\u00a0provide opportunities to gain insight into evolution of genomes, by revealing details of the interplay between mutation and selection.<\/p>\n<p>The biological questions Fran addressed include learning about\u00a0<strong>evolution of gene function<\/strong>\u00a0and regulation, in particular related to mechanisms underlying stress resistance and disease.
