One of the most fundamental questions in biology is to understand how transcriptional and epigenetic factors generate defined cellular phenotypes during development, and how such coherent phenotypes degrade during aging. Recently, single-cell multiomics technology has emerged as a powerful approach to investigate these questions. In my talk, I will show how I have used this technology to investigate the underlying causes of muscle stem cell aging. I will also discuss how transcriptional heterogeneity is linked with cell fate decisions during early development.

Biografía
Dr. Herraez is a postdoctoral researcher and Marie Skłodowska-Curie research Fellow at the Babraham Institute, Cambridge, UK. She completed her Ph.D. in 2015, studying epigenetics and human evolution at the Pompeu Fabra University, Spain. Now at the Babraham Institute, her research aims to understand how the epigenome instructs the unique gene expression program of each cell type to define its functional identity.
