{"id":5479,"date":"2016-12-30T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-12-29T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/idibell.cat\/en\/blog\/2020\/05\/01\/gabriel-capella-director-of-idibell\/"},"modified":"2020-05-15T20:25:28","modified_gmt":"2020-05-15T18:25:28","slug":"gabriel-capella-director-of-idibell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/idibell.cat\/en\/2016\/12\/gabriel-capella-director-of-idibell\/","title":{"rendered":"Gabriel Capell\u00e1, director of IDIBELL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Board of Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), in its meeting of December 29<sup>th<\/sup>, has approved the <strong>appointment of<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gabriel Capell\u00e1 as director of IDIBELL. <\/strong>This decision puts an end to the selection process started last July, when Dr. Jaume Revent\u00f3s became coordinator of strategy and institutional relations of the General Directorate for Research and Innovation in Health.<\/p>\n<p>Capell\u00e1 holds a PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the California Institute of Biological Research in La Jolla (California, USA) and at Sant Pau Hospital. He has also been a visiting professor at the University of Michigan. In the healthcare field, he worked as a surgeon at Sant Jaume de Calella Hospital. His research is aimed at the molecular diagnosis of cancer, both hereditary and sporadic, especially in colorectal cancer.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of management, Capell\u00e1 was Scientific Director of IDIBELL from 2008 to 2012, and since 2013 he has been responsible for Research and Innovation in health at the Health Department of Generalitat of Catalonia, a task that he has combined with the leadership of the Hereditary Cancer Program at ICO and the Hereditary Cancer group at IDIBELL.
