In total, close to \u20ac24.5 million have been awarded to 195 grants (39 in Barcelona), 4 of them directed to the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), which has received \u20ac489.778, to increase the average survival of people with cancer and bring the results of the research to the patient.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Laureano Molins, president of the Association Against Cancer in Barcelona, and Isabel Orbe, general director of the Scientific Foundation of the Spanish Association Against Cancer, presented the event and introduced the dialogue tables, the first with some of the researchers who benefit from the grants, among them Dr. Victor Moreno from IDIBELL and the Catalan Institute of Oncology. And, the second is a dialogue between Dr. Joan Seoane and the patient Enric Barba, under the theme &#8220;the patient at the center of the research&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The four selected IDIBELL projects are led by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Elisa Espinet (Transcan-3 JTC2021)<\/li>\n<li>Juan Jos\u00e9 Rojas (Aid LAB AECC 2022)<\/li>\n<li>Carolina M. Florian (Transcan-3 JTC2021)<\/li>\n<li>Victor Moreno (Transcan-3 JTC2021)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The awarded Association Research grants to cover all phases of the research career, from internships or university students to consolidated groups, all phases of research, from basic research to deepen knowledge of cancer to innovation and clinical research to bring results closer to patients and all types of cancers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>The Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) is a biomedical research center created in 2004. It is participated by the Bellvitge University Hospital and the Viladecans Hospital of the Catalan Institute of Health, the Catalan Institute of Oncology, the University of Barcelona and the City Council of L&#8217;Hospitalet de Llobregat.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>IDIBELL is a member of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Barcelona HUBc and is part of the CERCA institution of the Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2009 it became one of the first five Spanish research centers accredited as a health research institute by the Carlos III Health Institute. In addition, it is part of the &#8220;HR Excellence in Research&#8221; program of the European Union and is a member of EATRIS and REGIC.
