Yesterday the 21 projects selected to receive funding were announced, including four Catalan projects that will receive total funding of more than 540,000 euros.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dr. B\u00e1rbara Rivera<\/strong>, Principal Investigator of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (<a href=\"https:\/\/idibell.cat\/en\/research\/cancer-area\/molecular-mechanisms-and-experimental-therapy-in-oncology-program-oncobell\/hereditary-cancer\/\">IDIBELL<\/a>) in the Hereditary Cancer group of the Oncobell program, and Associate Professor at McGill University in Montreal, has received funding to study rare diseases affecting childhood. In particular, Dr. Rivera will analyze the profile of <strong>thyroid alterations<\/strong> in syndromes associated with mutations in genes involved in microRNA biogenesis.<\/p>\n<p>The objective of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fundacionmutua.es\/\">Mutua Madrile\u00f1a Foundation<\/a> with this annual grant program is to improve medical treatments and contribute to the maintenance and development of scientific research.
