The molecular signaling cascades which are produced at the cell level are essential for responding to changes in its environment or to alter its homeostasis, e.g. at the cell proliferation, movement, growth or metabolism levels. Understanding the mechanism of signal transduction enables us to explain how the alterations produced in many pathologies are controlled. As such, the changes in signalling can be used to detect the presence of many diseases and the signalling molecules can become therapeutic targets. Furthermore, these signalling pathways are affected in response to therapies used to treat diseases such as cancer, and are involved in creating drug resistance.<\/p>\n

IP: Ricardo P\u00e9rez Tom\u00e1s.<\/p>\n Identificar nuevas mol\u00e9culas m\u00e1s eficaces para combatir el c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n, bajo diversas perspectivas como son la qu\u00edmica m\u00e9dica, formulaci\u00f3n de nuevos f\u00e1rmacos, simulaci\u00f3n computacional, biolog\u00eda celular in vitro y t\u00e9cnicas bioqu\u00edmicas, transcript\u00f3mica y an\u00e1lisis de prote\u00f3mica, as\u00ed como en investigaci\u00f3n traslacional en modelos de xenotrasplante, permitir\u00e1 que seamos capaces de completar con \u00e9xito los estudios precl\u00ednicos de una prometedora nueva familia de compuestos anticancerosos. La desregulaci\u00f3n del pH es una caracter\u00edstica com\u00fan que confiere ventajas adaptativas a las c\u00e9lulas cancerosas. Proponemos que mol\u00e9culas que selectivamente poseen la capacidad de disminuir el pH intracelular ser\u00edan de gran inter\u00e9s como nuevos agentes quimioterap\u00e9uticos para el tratamiento del c\u00e1ncer de pulm\u00f3n.
