Barcelona Stem Cell Bank
The Barcelona Stem Cell Bank is one of the three nodes of the Spanish National Stem Cell Bank/ Banco Nacional de Líneas Celulares (BNLC), together with the nodes of Valencia (Centro de Investigación Principe Felipe) and Granada (Biobanco del Sistema Sanitario Público de Andalucía), which aims to ensure the availability of embryonic human stem cell lines for biomedical research throughout the country.
Established in 2005, the Barcelona Stem Cell Bank has as main objectives the generation of human Pluripotent Stem Cells, both human Embryonic Stem Cells (hESC) and human induced Pluripotent Stem Cells (hiPSC) for research and future clinical application, including the derivation, characterization, banking and registration of such lines for use by national and international scientists.
