The Psychiatry and Mental Health group focusses on studying genetic, neurobiological and clinical aspects of various mental disorders both from a disorder perspective and taking a cross-sectional approach. Neuroimaging studies are an important tool for such approaches.

Neurocognición y regulación emocional en condiciones extremas de peso: Estudio de la actividad cerebral y cambios asociados a una intervención basada en video juego terapéutico

La Anorexia nerviosa y la Obesidad son enfermedades extremas de alimentación/peso (EWC) con elevada morbilidad, que presentarán algunas similitudes neurocognitivas, emocionales y endocrinas, que en algunas de estas manifestaciones pueden mostrar ser resistentes tras un tratamiento habitual. Cada vez son más frecuentes los estudios que inciden en el SNC, como regulador y parcial responsable de ambas condiciones. Objetivos: 1) evaluar e identificar procesos de activación cerebral (RMf, EEG), neuropsicológico-clínicos y endocrinos (eCBs), ante estímulos emocionales, en pacientes con EWC; 2) evaluar en qué medida la disregulación emocional de estos pacientes puede ser modificada, a través de un entrenamiento específico con un videojuego terapéutico, e incrementar así su plasticidad cerebral.
