Agudo has also explained the research projects in which his group participates. On the one hand: the EPIC, the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition that has been collecting data and samples of more than 500 thousand people in ten European countries for nearly 15 years and has demonstrated, among others, the protective effect of fiber intake, fruits and vegetables on colorectal cancer or that a high intake of saturated fat can increase the risk of breast cancer.

Currently, Agudo’s research group is working on a project on how diet, obesity and physical activity acts in relapse of breast cancer patients.

The series ‘Pessics de ciència’ is an initiative of Sant Josep Cultural Centre L’Hospitalet de Llobregat in order to stimulate interest in science and bring it closer to citizens in an understandable and appealing way, and stimulate interest in scientific knowledge to all audiences.
