Two IDIBELL researchers lead research projects funded by the TV3 Telethon 2013 dedicated to the fight against neurodegenerative diseases. They are Xavier Altafaj, head of Neurobiology group of ionotropic glutamate receptors and Carles Casasnovas from the Neurological Disorders and Neurogenetic group.
The grants have been delivered on October 30 during a ceremony at the Academy of Medical Sciences and Health of Catalonia and the Balearics who submitted journalists Nuria Solé and Roger de Gràcia and has benefited from the presence of the Minister of Health, Boi Ruiz, the President of the Academy of Medical Sciences and Health of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, Àlvar Net, and the president of the Catalan Broadcasting Corporation and the Fundació La Marató TV3, Brauli Duart.
In the 2013 edition, dedicated to neurodegenerative diseases, 187 projects were presented and 99 were evaluated by scientists internationally specialists in this field in terms of quality, relevance and methodology. The management of the evaluation has been conducted by the Agency for Health Quality and Assessment of Catalonia, Department of Health.
