On September 18 was held for the first Cafè de la innovació” at the University Hospital of Bellvitge. It is an initiative of the Innovation Unit at IDIBELL to share innovative experiences in the field of healthcare in a relaxed manner for thirty minutes, sipping a cup of coffee.
The first talk was given by Oriol Bestard, nephrology research group IDIBELL and section chief of the Renal Transplant Unit of the Hospital of Bellvitge, who explained how his research group has developed a technology to identify patients at high risk suffering kidney transplant rejection. This tool will allow a better approach to treatment and, therefore, a very important welfare improvement. During the round of questions several aspects of technology transfer, and patent protection and the importance of teamwork between the Innovation unit and the researcher to successfully develop an innovation project were commented
The “Café de la Innovation” will be held once a month at the University Hospital of Bellvitge and the Catalan Institute of Oncology, Bellvitge, alternately. The next will feature cafes Josep M. Aran, a researcher of the Research Group of Human Molecular Genetics IDIBELL (October 30); Rafael Máñez, assistance director of the University Hospital of Bellvitge (November 20) and Oriol Casanovas, researcher at the Research Group on Tumor Angiogenesis ICO and IDIBELL (December 18).
