The 4th sLHam of women scientists from IDIBELL will take place on Saturday, February 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the Barradas Auditorium in L’Hospitalet. Eight researchers and professionals from the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) will participate. Each one of them will explain her work through research and innovation with a five-minute informative talk. The 2021 edition of the sLHam will be starred by the researchers and scientific professionals Gabriela Jiménez, Mireya Plass, Maria Suñol, Cristina Martínez, Bárbara Rivera, Carmen Ardanuy, Lidia Garcia, and Milagro González. The event will be conducted by Carla Serra, an IDIBELL scientific communicator. With this initiative, which already has three successful editions, we want to make science more accessible and alive, bring it closer to all types of public and highlight the decisive role of women in our research system.
The event will feature a musical performance by the young singer Gisela Quirós, thanks to the collaboration of the Municipal School of Music – L’Hospitalet Arts Center. The attending public will actively participate in the event choosing by popular vote the best presentation of the sLHam. The event will raise funds with a reverse box, and all the voluntary contributions of the spectators will be destined entirely to the solidarity project of IDIBELL Salvem vides.
The sLHam of scientists commemorate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. It is organized with the collaboration of the L’Hospitalet city council and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECY). The initiative has the support of the Pessics de Ciència cycle, the Barradas Auditorium, and several companies in the biotechnology sector. The act will be carried out respecting all the corresponding sanitary measures, and with the limitation of capacity dictated by the current protocols.
