Dr. Paula Jakszyn, researcher in IDIBELL and ICO’s nutrition and cancer group, together with Dr. Jordi Vilaró, professor at the Blanquerna Faculty of Health Sciences (URL), have been chosen to develop a serious game through a mobile application to promote physical activity in chronic pathologies.
In the call for the 2nd edition of “The Health Games Incubator” 2024, where 18 international projects were presented, only the 3 best classified were chosen. The project “B-ACTIVE: serious game platform to promote healthy behaviour in people with cancer” obtained the best score, votes and qualitative assessment.
This call, promoted by the Generalitat de Catalunya Department of Culture and funded by Next Generation, is an initiative of the Peninsula Corporate Innovation and the Serious Games Lab start up. The chosen projects will have mentoring and training to help design a health serious game prototype and the possibility of piloting it in a real environment. The prototype development will be carried out from September to December 2024, when the official prototype presentation will take place in front of potential suppliers and private sector companies that may be future commercialization partners.
The project has a clear vocation to generate social impact by favouring all those groups of people with cancer who are candidates to improve their health through exercise and regular physical activity.
