IDIBELL, reaccredited as Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III

The process for the renewal began in December 2023, culminating with a visit by auditors on March 13, 14 and 15 of this year.

This recognition, which must be renewed every five years, allows the Institute to access various sources of funding offered by the Ministry of Health.

IDIBELL was one of the first five centers to be certified in 2009. Currently, there are 35 accredited institutes, eight of them in Catalonia.

The Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) has been accredited again this May as a Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII). This certification evaluates excellence in research and adequate financing, ensuring the appropriate use of the center’s public and private resources. Thanks to this milestone, the Institute will be able to continue accessing different research programs to obtain competitive funds to develop new projects and guarantee the maintenance and improvement of current technical and human resources.

IDIBELL was one of the first five health research centers to be certified by the ISCIII in 2009. Since then, it has renewed its accreditation every five years. To achieve it, the procedures for the last renewal began in December 2023, culminating with a visit by auditors on March 13, 14 and 15 of this year. Finally, last week, the Evaluation Committee issued a favorable report for the accreditation of IDIBELL, confirming its excellence in health research.

This new accreditation implies being part of a network of institutes linked to the National Health System and being able to use the accreditation granted as an element of dissemination of research activities. Together with the CERCA evaluation, which was also carried out at the end of 2023, IDIBELL is positioned as a pole of excellence in translational health research, promoting cooperation between basic and clinical research. Currently, IDIBELL is one of the 35 health research institutes accredited by the ISCIII, eight of which are in Catalonia.
