La Fundación Vela Clásica de España raised more than 20,000 euros to support Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) research. Valle de la Riva, President of the Foundation, presented the check during the first day of the Puig Vela Clàssica Barcelona to Mónica Povedano, principal investigator of the IDIBELL Neurological and Neurogenetic Diseases research group and head of the Bellvitge Hospital Motor Neuron Disease Functional Unit and Orla Hardiman, Professor of Neurology at Trinity College Dublin.
The Foundation promoted “La Vela con la ELA” project in April to honor the memory of Nicolás Anglada Jané. In gratitude to the donors, the Foundation has contributed to the production of the book “Tanicotaki – Cocinando sin límites”, a recipe book promoted by Nicolás and which sold out weeks after its publication.
These funds will allow IDIBELL to advance the research for a cure for this devastating disease. La Fundación Vela Clásica thanks all donors for their generosity and support in this important cause.
