Funded the UPDATE project that will promote the leadership of IDIBELL in Horizon Europe

The Ministry of Science and Innovation and the State Research Agency, in the call for Grants for the Preparation and Management of European Projects, have financed the project “UPDATE – SUPporting IDIBELL reseArchers To succeed in Horizon Europe”.

The UPDATE project is led by Dr. Fernando Fernandez Aranda and the IDIBELL International Projects Unit. During the two years of the project (2023-2024), various activities have been planned and grouped into 6 pillars: the promotion of financing opportunities and support for the construction of European projects, the training of international project managers, the improvement of the international visibility of IDIBELL and its campus, fostering relationships with companies, training the scientific community, promoting the impact of research and the incorporation of “Responsible Research and Innovation” (RRI) aspects.

The actions carried out with the UPDATE project are expected to help consolidate the International Projects Office and prepare our institution for the new European and international challenges. It will also help improve the leadership of Bellvitge Campus researchers in European and international projects. All this will increase the visibility and presence of IDIBELL on the international scene.

The Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL) is a biomedical research center created in 2004. It is participated by the Bellvitge University Hospital and the Viladecans Hospital of the Catalan Institute of Health, the Catalan Institute of Oncology, the University of Barcelona and the City Council of L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.

IDIBELL is a member of the Campus of International Excellence of the University of Barcelona HUBc and is part of the CERCA institution of the Generalitat de Catalunya. In 2009 it became one of the first five Spanish research centers accredited as a health research institute by the Carlos III Health Institute. In addition, it is part of the “HR Excellence in Research” program of the European Union and is a member of EATRIS and REGIC. Since 2018, IDIBELL has been an Accredited Center of the AECC Scientific Foundation (FCAECC).
