The award was presented to him on May 24. The thesis was supervised by Drs. Antoni Riera Mestre and Xavier Corbella Virós. All three are members of the IDIBELL Systemic, Vascular and Aging Diseases Research Group.

The SCBMI is a non-profit association that is part of the Academy of Medical Sciences and Health of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands and that brings together specialists in Internal Medicine. Among other awards, each year the Bartolomé Cabrer Award recognizes the best Doctoral Thesis in Medicine, read during the previous year.
