On Thursday afternoon, April 21, the Presentation Conference of the Bellvitge Campus Scientific and Technical Services for Clinical Research took place, organized by IDIBELL and CCiTUB (UB Scientific and Technological Centers) with the aim of raising awareness of the research support services that IDIBELL and UB offer to researchers in the Bellvitge Campus. The event took place in the Auditorium of the Bellvitge University Hospital (HUB) and was attended by nearly a hundred people, mostly scientists from the Campus.

The Conference was inaugurated by Dr. Fernández-Aranda, scientific director of IDIBELL and researcher at IDIBELL, HUB and UB, and Dr. Grifell, deputy manager of HUB. Mercè Martí and Juan Francisco Sangüesa made a brief introduction to the research support services of IDIBELL and UB respectively. They agreed on the importance of the synergies that have already been established between the two institutions in order to make a joint strategy of scientific and technical support to a Campus dedicated to biosanitary research. In addition, during this introduction, Mercè Martí presented for the first time the video presentation of the scientific and technical services of IDIBELL, now available on the institutional Youtube channel and also on the website.

The largest share of the event was the presentation of the different platforms by their respective heads. Lola Mulero, head of the IDIBELL histology service, spoke about the importance of properly processing the histological sample. Then, Esther Castaño explained the applicability of cytometry studies in biosanitary research. Next, the optical and electron microscopy services and their usefulness in the clinical field were presented by Joan Repullés, from IDIBELL, and Benjamín Torrejón and Eva Prats from the UB. Already at the molecular level but still applicable to clinical research, Josep Gardenyes and Sílvia Barceló explained the molecular biology and molecular interaction services of IDIBELL, and Josep Maria Estanyol and Alberto Adeva, the proteomics and metabolomics tools of the UB . Finally, Laura Arregui presented the HUB-ICO-IDIBELL Biobank.

To finish, at around 5pm, the event closed with a networking and refreshments area. This event counted on the collaboration of Valtria, Roche, Althea, Sarstedt, Cultek and BioLab.
