Synergy will open the doors to cutting-edge research carried out by health institutions working together in Bellvitge, one of the most active centers in biomedical research and health care in the country. Coinciding with Science Week, Sinergia third edition, led by L’Hospitalet City Council and the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), will disseminate and share the responsible and innovative research of IDIBELL, the Catalan Institute of Oncology, Bellvitge Hospital and the University of Barcelona, with the aim of advancing towards new ways of orienting research, involving society in order to achieve a greater impact on health.
On Saturday, 20 November, IDIBELL will celebrate its Open Day at the Duran i Reynals Hospital, with two activities open to the public. On the one hand, the IDIescape, the escape room in the laboratories, will once again launch a challenge to the participants: to find, in less than an hour, the cure for a lethal infection that attacks the city. There will be three sessions (one at 10 a.m., one at 11 a.m. and the last at 12 p.m.) and in order to play, you must reserve seats at: https://bit.ly/IDIescape21.
During Saturday too, visitors will also have the chance to visit the IDIBELL laboratories and experience research in person. The first group visit, at 10:30 am, will culminate with the talk by Dr. Francisco Ciruela Light-activated drugs: closer to precision medicine. The second one, at 11:30 am, will end with the talk by Dra. Estela Cámara Observing the brain and neural connections: 4.0 neuroimaging techniques. To do these visits you must also book seats at: https://bit.ly/visitesIDIBELL21
On Thursday, 18 November, the L’Harmonia Auditorium (Plaça Josep Bordonau i Balaguer, 6, L’Hospitalet) will host, from 5 pm, the Research and Health Conference: we are close to you, open to patients, relatives and the general public, which will offer three dialogues focused on three diseases that Bellvitge is doing research on. At 5 pm, Josep M Aran (IDIBELL) and Celestino Raya (Catalan Cystic Fibrosis Association) will talk about cystic fibrosis. At 6 pm, the focus will be on eating disorders, with Fernando Fernández-Aranda (IDIBELL-HUB) and Sara Bujalance (Association Against Anorexia and Bulimia). Finally, at 7 pm, Conxi Lázaro and Ernest Nadal (IDIBELL-ICO) will talk about advances in personalized cancer medicine.
Sinergia will also allocate spaces for students from Bellvitge Campus of the University of Barcelona, who, on Wednesday, 17 November will be able to visit the robotized pharmacy of the Catalan Institute of Oncology, operating rooms and radiological and cardiac intervention services of the Bellvitge University Hospital and the scientific-technical services of the IDIBELL. For ESO students in the educational tandem with the Bellvitge Institute, IDIBELL has prepared a visit to the laboratories and two scientific and motivating talks by Carla Serra and Álvaro Carmona.
The sinergia.l-h.cat website will once again be the platform where the virtual side of Sinergia will be held. Three new Quinaciència! scientific capsules, starring researchers Bárbara Rivera, Jordi Guiu and Jordi Adamuz, will be released throughout the week. Also, seven new monologues from the successful Stand-up Science series will be launched, which gives voice to predoctoral students and young researchers at IDIBELL and disseminates their research in youtuber format, thanks to the alliance between Torre Barrina, L’Hospitalet City Council and IDIBELL. Finally, the translation of Sinergia content into Spanish and English, including the IDIescape in virtual format, will also be made available to users.
Sinergia is the Festival of research and innovation in health in L’Hospitalet, framed within the strategic project L’Hospitalet, an innovative ecosystem in health (PECT, co-financed with European FEDER funds), and carried out with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology – Ministry of Science and Innovation (FECYT). The initiative began in 2019, in 2020, it was adapted due the health situation caused by Covid-19 to an online event thanks to the launch of the website sinergia.l-h.cat. This year, Sinergia returns with face-to-face activities and new informative content on the web portal.
