On February 13 took place the event for awarding the Philips Grant for Research in Nutrition and Breast Cancer of Fundación Sandra Ibarra at the headquarters of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) at L’Hospitalet de Llobregat.
The project awarded with the grant is entitled “Biomarkers of diet and metabolic risk in patients with breast cancer after an intervention of diet and physical activity.” It is led by Antonio Agudo, Unit of Nutrition, Environment and Cancer ICO-IDIBELL.
The project received the highest rating from the National Agency for Evaluation and Prospective (ANEP), an independent agency responsible for evaluating all projects that were submitted to the open call by Fundación Sandra Ibarra. The launch of this grant is justified by the need to further investigate how dietary habits with the incidence of breast cancer, the most prevalent tumor among women relate.
The ceremony was attended, among others, by Sandra Ibarra, president of the foundation that bears her name; Angeles Barrios, Philips Director of Corporate Communications – the company that sponsored this grant-, Antonio Agudo , researcher at the Nutrition, Environment and cancer unit of ICO- IDIBELL, Candela Calle, CEO of ICO, José Manuel Menchón, IDIBELL scientific director
