On September 17 took place the delivery of the “IV ghd Grants” for breast cancer research with a ceremony attended by the presence of Sandra Ibarra, president of the Foundation, Manel Esteller, patron of the Foundation, Candela Calle, general director of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO) and Thys Niermeyer, general director of ghd Spain. The project “Identification of DNA methylation biomarkers of drug sensitivity in breast cancer,” of the researcher Holger Heyn, is one of the five awarded projects.
The grants were resolved by the ANEP (National Agency for Evaluation and Prospective), unit belonging to the Secretariat of State of Research, Development and Innovation of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. This independent body was responsible for evaluating the applicant projects and giving them the score. The eligibility criteria were the viability and excellence of the proposal and of the research team.
The grants are the result of the revenues obtained from the sale of the solidarity Edition ghd Pink Orchid, a solidarity brand of styling products. ghd has allocated over the past 10 years more than 9 million euros in breast cancer research, of which 1.5 million correspond to the collection in Spain.
