The director of the Cancer Epigenetics and Biology Program at IDIBELL, Professor of Genetics at the University of Barcelona and ICREA Research Professor, Manel Esteller has been awarded with the Rey Jaime I Prize in basic research in its 25th edition.

The Rey Jaime I Awards Foundation celebrates its 25th anniversary with the participation of twenty Nobel laureates among the jury of 90 people. The other winners were: Jesus F. San Miguel Izquierdo, Medical Research, Francisco Xavier Vives in Economics, Xavier Querol, in Environmental Protection, Antonio Gonzalez in New Technologies and Pedro Espinosa in the category of Entrepreneurs.

Rey Jaime I Awards were created in 1989 for the promotion of research and scientific development in Spain.
