The IDIBELL is preparing the strategic plan, which will guide its actions over the next few years. This is a fundamental instrument in order to be able to articulate the actions the IDIBELL will develop over the coming years and which replaces the plan realized in 2007, valid till the end of 2012. This document sets out the vision, mission and values of the center, as well as the strategic goals of the Institute and the actions that will be derived. To realize the strategic plan there has been created a working group formed by professionals of the IDIBELL and belonging to the different institutions that are part of the center. A representative of the Works Council of the Institute has also been involved.

In addition to serving as a framework for the strategic actions which are carried out at the IDIBELL during the next years, the fact of having this plan is essential so that we may reaccredit as Institute of health research for the Institute of Health Carlos III, as well as for certifications of quality ISO 9001 and EFQM. These accreditations enable the Institute access to sources of funding, which, in case of not having them, it would be difficult and, in some cases, impossible to access.
Working group

The project has been co-ordinated by the direction of quality, headed by Joana Visa, and has counted on the participation of a small working group formed by Montse Ballarín, responsible for the OTRI, Francisco Ciruela, head of the Group of Neuropharmacology and Pain, of the University of Barcelona, Josep Maria Cruzado, researcher of the Group of Nephrology and Renal Transplant, of the Bellvitge University Hospital; Marga Frontera, Deputy Scientific Director, Josep Gardenyes, President of the Works Council of the IDIBELL; Dori Huertas, researcher at the Cancer epigenetics group; Mercè Manyós, Coordinator of the Office of support to research of the OTRI, and Marga Nadal, Coordinator of the translational research laboratory of the Catalan Institute of Oncology. There have also collaborated Alex Aguilar, controller, and Jordi Morato, communication manager.

The working group met on the 28th and 29th of May. Working hours were very productive and resulted in the realization of a comprehensive proposal for a strategic plan, based on the guidelines established by the management, which is articulated around three axes: integration of the partners and strategic alliances, fostering research in health, and promotion of innovation and transfer of research results.

Over the next few days the internal Scientific Committee will evaluate the proposals made by the working group and probably will introduce improvements to the document. Subsequently, the plan will be sent to the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for discussion and approval. The final document will be published on the web and will be presented to all the professionals of the Center.
