A project of Dr. Esteban Ballestar, from IDIBELL, funded by the Ramón Areces Foundation The Ramon Areces Foundation funded several research projects of UB and IDIBELL, through the Sixteenth Call of the Spanish National Competition. The act of delivery of the aid took place last June 27th at the headquarters of this organization in Madrid, in a ceremony presided over by Isidoro Alvarez, leader president of the Ramón Areces Foundation, and Carmen Vela, Secretary of State for Research, Development and Innovation. The institution has awarded 4.5 million to 48 pioneer’s research projects around Spain in the field of rare diseases, gene therapy and regenerative genome and epigenome, biomimetic models, climate change and marine science.
Ramon Areces Foundation will fund 14 projects in Catalonia. One of them is led by Dr. Esteban Ballestar, from the Chromatin and Disease Group of the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), entitled “Study of the relationship of methylome-genome and their features in common in systemic autoimmune disease: SLE, RA and SSc”.
