IDIBELL researcher Manel Esteller, elected Academician of the Spanish Royal Academy of Pharmacy

Manel Esteller, director of the Cancer Epigenetics and Biology program of IDIBELL, ICREA research professor and associate professor at the University of Barcelona, has been elected as a new Academician of the Spanish Royal Academy of Pharmacy on December 14th.

The Royal Academy of Pharmacy, which dates back to 1589, is a public scientific society whose functions are to promote research and study of the Pharmaceutical Sciences and its relatives, advising the Government, public authorities, Spanish Agency of Medicines, science and technology agencies and many private institutions at their request, in all that relates to the Pharmaceutical Sciences and Medicine, and health promotion. Therefore, RANF’s mainly dedication is the cultivation and distribution of pharmaceutical science.

The election of Manel Esteller as an academic is due to their contributions to the study on epigenetics in health and disease. He is the author of over two hundred scientific articles, member of numerous international scientific societies and editorials, and editor of several publications. Currently holds the position of president of the Epigenetics Society.
