Presentation of the Spanish Association of Neurogenetics (Neurogenes)

Spain has about two million people affected by neurogenetic diseases. The small number of patients and the complexity of these diseases demands a multidisciplinary approach among professionals in the genetics of nervous system, neuroscientists, neuropediatrics, etc.. In order to integrate these professionals into a single entity is born the Spanish Association of Neurogenetics. This integration has gone directly to the goal of benefiting patients and their families, and gives new impetus to research.
The presentation of Neurogenes took place on March 30, at Health Institute Carlos III. The origen of neurogenes involves the chief of neurology at the Hospital Ramón y Cajal, Justo García de Yébenes, and the director of the genetic Molecular Diagnostics Center and researcher at the neurometabolic diseases and neurogenetics group at IDIBELL, Victor Volpini, president and vice president of the new partnership, respectively. Both have stressed the translational aim of the new society.
