Resum
Over 70% of global cancer deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). A key challenge to reducing the global burden of cancer, particularly in low resource settings, is the limited implementation of cancer prevention and control strategies that are known to work. Over the past ten years, the National Cancer Institute’s Center for Global Health (CGH) has advanced a portfolio of global cancer research and training programs focused primarily on cancer control in global settings, using implementation science to develop and evaluate strategies for successful implementation of evidence-based interventions across diverse contexts. Research projects have focused on interventions around HPV and cervical cancer, reducing tobacco and alcohol use, and ways to integrate cancer control into existing healthcare settings. This talk will provide an overview of ongoing research and training programs and opportunities for future research and collaboration in global oncology.
