Biografia
Rafael Mañez graduated in Medicine in 1981, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, and completed his Intensive Care Medicine training in 1987 at Valle Hebron University Hospital, Barcelona, Spain. From 1990 to 1994, he was Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh Transplantation Institute, PA, USA. From 1995 to 1996, he was Medical Deputy Director at Bellvitge University Hospital, and from 1996 to 2003, Medical Director of Transplantation at A Coruña University Hospital, A Coruña, Spain. Since 2003, he directs the Intensive Care Medicine Department at Bellvitge University Hospital and leads the research group Innate Immunity and Pathology of Critical Ill Patientat the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Spain. He has published 163 articles (H-index 41), filled two patents, and was one of the founders of IDIBELL spin-off RemAb Therapeutics.
